Meet Dan Smith: The Chief Un-Confuser of Tech
Hello! I’m Dan.
If you’ve landed here, you’re probably looking at a screen, a box, or a gadget that’s making more noise than sense. You might be wondering if this is the right place for you. Let me tell you a little story about why Master of All Things "Stuff" (MOATS) exists.
The "Why" Behind the "Stuff"
I started MOATS because I got tired of tech experts speaking in code. I realized that technology shouldn’t be a puzzle only engineers can solve; it should be a tool to make life easier, whether you’re 25 or 75.
I’ve spent years untangling cords, translating "cloud storage" into plain English, and coaxing printers back from the brink of despair. But more importantly, I’ve learned that the best tech support isn’t about how fast you can fix a problem—it’s about how comfortable someone feels while you’re doing it.
My Philosophy: No Jargon, Just Solutions
When we work together, think of me less as a technician and more as your friendly neighborhood guide.
Patience is my superpower: If I say something twice, that’s on me, not you.
The "Stuff" is the focus: Whether it’s hardware (tablets, phones, printers) or software (apps, safety settings), we tackle them one step at a time.
Empowerment over dependency: My goal isn’t just to fix your device today; it’s so you feel confident enough to use it tomorrow without calling me for help.
A Little About the Man Behind the Screen
When I’m not troubleshooting Wi-Fi or explaining why that one button is blinking red, you can find me in my cozy home office. I believe the best tech sessions happen over a cup of coffee and a little bit of laughter.
I know that "tech" can feel intimidating, but here’s the secret: You don’t need to be a wizard to use it. You just need to be curious and willing to get your hands dirty. You just need someone who speaks both "Tech" and "Human."
Ready to Tame Your Tech?
If you’re ready to stop guessing and start enjoying your devices, I’m here. Let’s sit down (virtually or in person), have a chat, and see how we can make your digital life feel a little less like work and a lot more like magic.
Welcome to MOATS: Your Stuff, Solved.

Tilda
Don't forget Tilda: The Feline Guardian of MOATS
QC Excellence, Security, Chief Naptime Officer and Walking Empty Stomach
Name: Tilda
Origin: Toronto (She claims the whole city is her territory)
Titles: Honorary Head of QC/Excellence, Security Chief, & Professional Stroller
The Feline Guardian of MOATS
While Dan handles the tech, Tilda handles the truth. As our Honorary Head of QC and Excellence, she has a very specific way of testing your work: if it’s warm enough for her to nap on, or sturdy enough to withstand a 3 AM zoomie session, then it passes inspection. She is known to inspect cables with her paws, sniff new gadgets for "scent of quality," and knock things off desks just to see if they break (if they don’t, she’s impressed).
The Security Detail
Tilda isn't just a pet; she's the Security Chief. While Dan works late into the night troubleshooting Wi-Fi issues, Tilda patrols the perimeter. She guards the server rack with her eyes wide open and ensures no field mice or "tech gremlins" sneak in through the window. If you hear a soft purr coming from the office, it means the coast is clear. If she hisses at a delivery box? That one better be checked twice.
The Great Stroll (Walking Empty Stomach)
Her most famous duty is her signature move: The Walk. Tilda believes that walking with an empty stomach makes you more appreciative of treats when they arrive. She takes long, dignified strolls around the MOATS office (and sometimes the neighburhood), pausing to inspect a leaf or a shadow, always looking for the next snack but mostly just enjoying the journey. It’s said she walks so far that even her tail gets tired—but she never complains because the view is worth it.
Why She Matters
Tilda reminds us that MOATS isn't just about fixing machines; it's about making life cozy. She brings warmth, patience, and a little bit of chaos to our tech support world. If you visit us in person (or virtually), keep an eye out for her—she might be sleeping on your keyboard or judging your mouse cursor.
"Purr-fectly Approved by Tilda."
